While we are so stoked for all layered up coats and booties for fall, we still just can’t wait for the city to get heated up with our much anticipated Indian summer. San Francisco locals know to stay bundled up through the summer with the exception of those few fluke days and we all wait with baited breath for the temperature (and our hemlines) to climb. So here at Piece x Piece we thought we’d compile a little list for you of a few things that are coming up in San Francisco to get excited about. And hopefully the sun will part from the clouds and allow us to rock that summer gear we so desperately want to bust out! Lets keep our fingers crossed…
Pizzeria Delfina, Blue Bottle Coffee, La Mar and Mission Pie are just a few of our favorites who will be dishing up the good eats at the San Francisco Street Food Festival this Saturday from 11am-7pm on Folsom street in the Mission. The event is hosted by La Cocina, a non-profit that provides affordable commercial kitchen space and assistance to low-income and immigrant entrepreneurs who are trying to launch businesses in the food industry. Fill your belly and give support to local businesses at the same time!
The Alamo Square Flea Market is also this Saturday from 8am-3pm. Be sure to head over and search for antiques and hidden gems. The flea market at Alamo Square has been going on the past 27 years and this year The Indie Mart has teamed up to provide us with even more vintage treasures and goodies. Workshop will also be there providing DIY stations for the whole family. This one is not to miss!
Our final days of Sunday Streets are a little ways off so there is still hope that the sun will shine by then. September 11th and October 23rd will be your final chances to show off your bike style. Will you dare to wear heels? I hope so! And keep in mind its not required to ride a bike so come for a stroll, bring your pooch and enjoy the day roaming the streets free from cars!
Grab a blanket and popcorn and get cozy with your sweetie as you blast off with Top Gun! The last SF movie night in Dolores park will be at 8pm, on Saturday September 24th. Don’t miss out!
Whether you get to the beach, the park, the flea or the street food festival here’s to hoping there will be fun in the sun!
“The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco.”
- Mark Twain
