Taking a Stand: Exercise Your First Ammendment

Some of you may have heard about the Keystone XL Pipeline but may not know the details of this massive project. The plan is to bring crude oil from Canada that will travel at high pressure across Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas to Gulf Coast refineries. Don’t worry, this isn’t a blog post to “preach” our point of view and why we think it’s right. This is a blog post about standing up for something you feel strongly about, using your voice and your rights to exercise your freedom to share your opinions, no matter what they are.

Some movements are easy to ignore, while others stir an emotional reaction that get you off your seat. It’s our right as American citizens to speak openly and sometimes loudly about a cause we feel is worth fighting for. Often we find unity in groups who share the same desire to spread a message or make our voice that much louder. Whatever the cause remember it’s your right to speak up about it.

Piece x Piece went downtown yesterday to show support, along with many others that we are AGAINST the XL Keystone Pipeline. We believe this plan will have catastrophic affects on people, drinking water, land, water ways, eco-systems, and wildlife. For us it is vital to stand up for environmental causes because it’s part of our ethos as a company. We stood peacefully with so many others to share a message that we think needs to heard.

Whether you believe in fighting for or against the XL Keystone Pipeline or fighting to Save the Whales,  it’s your right to stand up and share your point of view. The First Amendment is an important one and as Americans we have the right to speak up about the issues we see value in.

“Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so, too.” ~Voltaire
